SUMMARY OF PROJECTS AND EVENTS FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS:
September 2008:
On August 29, 2008, we graduated 30 students from our Practical Missionary Bible School. Three students then traveled to Ukraine for mission work and the rest returned home to become Sunday School teachers and youth leaders.
In Argentina, local missionaries and a visiting team from the US built the walls of the orphanage we sponsor in the Formosa Province. Our missionary, Pastor Anatoliy Borisevets spearheads the project with contributions and labor from a few Slavic churches in the US.
In Magadan, Siberia, a local church named Blagayavest- Good News, held a children’s camp through our support. There were 30 children aged 4-13. This is a church we have been involved with since 1996. The camp was a great blessing to the children and youth.
October 2008:
On October 12th the congregation and pastor Vitaliy Havula held a celebration service dedicating the Christian Center in Priluki, E. Ukraine, for ministry. It was a culmination of many years of work by members, sponsors and missionaries to come to this point. Peter Radchuk was a guest speaker.
This was followed by an outdoor evangelistic service that evening in the center of the town.
November 2008:
In the US, the mission celebrated its 14th anniversary of service in this country. It was on the 8th and 9th. On Saturday there was a missionary and sponsor luncheon. This is an exciting time for all of us as missionaries travel from all over the world to be present and share their stories. Then Sunday we have an open service so that others can hear testimonies about the work around the world.
India Evangelical Teams invited us to bring a small group to India. Five men from Good Samaritan went and they traveled together to three different regions. We gave funds for building two churches, sound equipment for a region open to evangelism and organized a special Christmas dinner and gifts for an orphanage.
December 2008:
We sent money to churches in Russia, India, Argentina, and Ukraine for Christmas gifts. It is given to orphans, poor families, church children, widows and the disabled.
January 2009:
We thanked God that even though the world is in a financial crisis, you were sending your gifts faithfully, and God enabled us to be true to our commitments to missionaries, orphanages, pastors and churches.
February 2009:
Mid-February a group went to Argentina. They visited orphanages, went to the Formosa Province, leading evangelical services, as well as holding a seminar for ministers and leaders of children’s ministries. They also distributed food and clothing to the poor ethnic people.
March 2009:
At our mission in Rovno, we held a Bible School for fifteen students. They were from East and West Ukraine, as well as the Crimea region and the US. After studying they will be sent out to do practical missionary work in three regions of Ukraine.
April 2009:
For a more effective ministry on the rivers of Siberia, we contributed to shipping a boat, purchased in Florida, and sent to St. Petersburg. It’s final destination is Krasnoyarsk, near Vladivostok. We are still collecting finances to transport it across the whole continent. The estimated amount is $8000.
The mission is celebrating 20 years of religious freedom to preach the gospel in the Former Soviet Union. Grandpa Radchuk traveled the FSU extensively ministering to the Underground Church during communist days. In 1989, when freedom came, the mission was formally established in Rovno, Ukraine, the birthplace of the Radchuk family and a three story building housing offices, kitchen, hotel and seminar rooms was constructed with donated labor.
Peter and Nadia Radchuk, Yuriy and Vasiliy Radchuk, and Pastor Anatoliy Borisovets traveled to Ukraine, to bless the event and preach in many venues. Because it is Orthodox Easter, there are many opportunities to preach the gospel and a greater openess to listen.
There is not as much enthusiasm for evangelistic meetings as when freedom was first given. We ask you to pray that souls will decide now before opportunities are gone. Please pray for the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His fields, as Jesus commanded us.
We are working to train missionaries in the US and in Ukraine. Our next class of our Practical Missionary Bible School in the US starts in June.
Please pray that the allure of the American standard of living will not hold slavic youth back from going to serve where their language knowledge is such a boost. Pray that the slavic churches will catch the vision of supporting their young people on the mission field.
We are so thankful for your partnership and joyful involvement in this task given to all of us by our Lord, of building His Church.
With Warm Wishes,
Peter Radchuk and the Staff of Good Samaritan Ministries
